The interview is a huge coup for the national broadcaster as there has been lots of speculation about what Varadkar will do next after he shocked the nation and announced he was quitting just 11 months before his tenure was due to come to a natural end.

Also on the chat show this week, rugby legend Brian O’Driscoll will reunite again with Michaela Morley who appeared in a heart-melting photo back in 2011.

The pair were on the Late Late Show back in 2018 when Ryan Tubridy hosted, so Kielty will catch up with the friends to see how Michaela is doing 13 years later.

Having supported Bruce Springsteen and toured with George Ezra and Dermot Kennedy, Ireland's hottest new band Kingfishr will make their Late Late Show debut performing their current hit single Shadow.

Tune in Friday night to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player from 9.35pm.
