Apple is set to unveil several new iPad models today, with upgrades due to its iPad Pro and iPad Air ranges.

Some reports claim that the company will release a new 12.9-inch iPad Air that will be seen as a ‘lite’ version of the flagship iPad Pro 12.9. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new larger iPad Air will sit alongside an updated 11-inch iPad Air, both likely to include M2 chips.

Meanwhile, the top-end iPad Pro models, in 11-inch and 12.9-inch formats, are tipped to be the first new devices using Apple’s latest M4 chip, giving iPads an edge over MacBooks in Apple’s chip design technology.

Upgrades are also expected to the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard accessories.

Apple’s most recent quarterly results showed revenue from its iPad range dipping to $5.6bn in the first quarter of the year, a 17pc decline on the same period last year. However, this still makes it one of the best-selling laptops, worldwide. The company has not released any new flagship iPads since 2022.
